India, known officially as the Republic of India, is a vast country located in South Asia. It is the second most populous nation in the world and the most populous democracy. Economically, India is the world's twelfth largest economy by market exchange rates and the fourth largest in purchasing power. Economic reforms have propelled it to become one of the fastest growing large economies. However, the country still faces challenges such as high levels of poverty, illiteracy, and malnutrition.
India is a pluralistic, multilingual, and multiethnic society, home to a rich diversity of wildlife within various protected habitats. The country's history and cultural heritage are deeply rooted in its ancient civilizations and continue to shape its identity today.
