“大闹天宫”中的叛逆者竖起了“齐天大圣”的旗帜，并且提出“皇帝轮流做，明年到我家”的口号，十万天兵天将望风而逃，天宫统治摇摇欲坠，以致玉皇大帝不得不向外求援，这些虚构和幻想的情节是以现实中的农民起义、农民战争作为基础。
如果没有历史上发生的许多次规模巨大的、猛烈地冲击了封建王朝的农民起义、农民战争，“大闹天宫”的情节不可能想象得那样大胆，孙悟空作为一个叛逆者的形象也不可能塑造得那样光辉夺目。
