一、历史原型
《三国志·吴书·孙权传》“曹公攻濡须，权与相拒月馀。（裴松之注）魏略曰：（建安十八年214年）权乘大船来观军，公使弓弩乱发，箭着其船，船偏重将覆，权因回船，复以一面受箭，箭均船平，乃还”，这是草船借箭的原形，历史明确记载借箭人是孙权，并不是诸葛亮。
二、草船借箭发生地点
据《元和郡县图志》卷逸文二淮南道载：“濡须坞，在（含山县）西南一百十里，濡须水，原出于巢县西巢湖，建安十八年曹公至濡须，闻曹公将来，（孙权）夹水筑坞，形如偃月，故以为名”。
《舆地纪胜》卷四十八·和州记载：“濡须山，在含山县西南七十五里……最为控扼之雄。吴魏必争之地。吴据其北，筑濡须坞以拒魏”，由此看出草船借箭遗址发生在含山县。
