我只知道5月7日是世界AIDS孤儿日
A child in the developing world orphaned by AIDS is robbed of their loving parents and deprived of their rights as a child, often jeopardising their very survival.
With little time to mourn their loss, many children are forced to drop out of school to care for their siblings or to work. There are more than 34 million orphans in sub Saharan Africa and some 15 million of them have been orphaned by AIDS.
The vulnerability of these children starts well before the death of a parent.
Their emotional suffering usually begins with seeing their parents’ distress and progressive illness.
This is compounded as the disease causes drastic changes in family life requiring children to become caretakers and breadwinners.
Hope and Homes for Children is actively working with orphans by giving them emotional support and care, furthering education and job skills and keeping siblings and families together.
International AIDS Orphans Day is on May 7th and we need your help to enable us to reach more children. Please donate whatever you can and we can give these children one of their most fundamental needs -
a childhood. Thank you.
