Though we never had the chance to become lovers, I still treasure the moment when his short message came and helped me get out of the helplessness and despair pervading everywhere. I just trembled and read the simple words again and again to regain my courage to get over the difficulties and sorrows in my life, “I am always here with you…” It’s very beginning of a lifelong friendship.
Sometimes a strange idea occurred to me, why I, a girl who never shows any talent in learning mathematics am here, in one of the top universities in the country majoring Software Engineering, a subject has too much to do with math? I didn’t hate math nor did I fear of it until a terrible test result came to me all of a sudden and destroyed my only-left self-confidence. 47. Couldn’t have been any worse. I had almost made up my mind to become an art student when my math teacher came to me one day and told me a piece of surprising news that I should get a highest score in the city’s math contest among all the participants in our school. To this day I still believe it meant nothing but coincidence and luck, but the teacher’s words left a permanent influence on me, inspiring and encouraging, “Don’t always assume other people to be that much excellent. There was a time when I thought I was ugly and unlovable, for I was turned down by a boy I had secretly fallen in love for three years. Being grief-stricken, everything seemed to me was ended.
