would rather(that)后是一宾语从句，从句用虚拟，即当从句的时间是现在或将来时，就用动词的过去式。当时间是过去时就用过去完成时，如 I would rather that you came tomorrow/now. I would rather that you had passed the exam last time. I would rather that I had not seen you yesterday.
