The Chinese Company will be involved in trading on European, US and other International Derivatives exchanges on behalf of a foreign company. The foreign company group has been established for over ten years as a clearing member of various International Derivatives Exchanges. The firm is regularly among the top ten clearing firms for the volume of business cleared globally. It has customers in London, Gibraltar, Israel, Hungary and India.
Operations will commence in Shanghai in January 2008 with approximately 20 traders. Knowledge will be gained from group Companies. The Company’s policy is to recruit fresh graduates and MBAs from the best academic institutions.
To begin with in Shanghai, the office would be trading interest rate futures in London and Chicago. In the future, the objective is to branch off into other areas like equities & commodities. The Company is searching for a Managing Director to head the office in Shanghai. The candidate would be a reporting to the Managing Director of the Holding Company. He will be responsible for running the branch and profitability of the branch.
The person should have 5-10 years of trading background in any area – equities, FX, interest rate or commodities and in either cash or derivative products. Ideally, he would have traded in International markets and is now wanting to return back to China having learnt his trade offshore.
He should like training and inter-acting with young people as he would be involved in shaping up young graduates into professional traders. He will be involved in managing the “market” risks which are being carried by the traders and, hence, should be familiar with risk management principles and dynamics of markets. Being the Head of the office, he would be overseeing the HR,IT and other operational aspects of the branch. He will be assisted in these functions by an Office Manager.
The person should have preferably worked in a professional organization before. The ideal candidate would be someone who had been an excellent trader during in his prime, but now wants to branch out into management or be an entrepreneur. This job would be very entrepreneurial in nature as the company would be looking to him to generate ideas to branch off into other businesses. The job offers a very good opportunity since it is first of its kind in China and he or she should be able to appreciate it. In 2008, the company would look to expand into other cities in China.
