补充：Jim Davis is the creator of Garfield. 这样就好了，为什么不用father？听过Founding Fathers of the United States？（美国开国元勋）father用来这里形容作者不太合适，除非加菲猫真的有猫父亲或者你想形容Jim对待这部作品向父亲呵护小孩一般。
